As part of his continuing education and training in the administration of law
enforcement, Chief Kevin Hannah, of the Franklin Police Department recently
attended the 2011 Annual Winter Training conference sponsored by the Georgia
Association of Chiefs of Police. This year’s conference was attended by the
heads of law enforcement agencies from throughout the state participating in the
three-day conference. The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is
responsible for the delivery of training to the chiefs of Georgia’s police
departments and law enforcement agencies.

The Winter Training Conference was held at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta from
January 24th through January 26, 2011. This year’s training covered a variety of
topics such as: “A Review of the DC Sniper Case”, “National Suspicious Activity
Reports (SAR’s)”, “Rapid-ID Project”, “Georgia Peace Officer Standards and
Training Update”, “Battlefield to Badge: Transitioning Returning Veterans to
Civilian Police Forces”, “Domestic Terrorism & Sovereign Citizens”, “Traffic
Safety Management” and “Character & Cops – Ethics in Policing”.

Chief Hannah was among more than 290 heads of law enforcement agencies
attending this Conference. Chief Woodrow W. Blue, Jr. of the Milledgeville
Police Department and President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police,
encourages each member to “excel in your position through quality management
training which enhances your knowledge and improves the level of
professionalism within your agency.”
